If you're looking for great service and well crafted cocktails, this is the place to go in Newton. It's and old fashioned bar masquerading behind the storefront of a butchers shop (walked past the building twice before finding it). Inside, you'll find a dimly lit but beautiful space with old pin board drink lists and a sheet metal roof.
The bartenders are amazing. Friendly and attentive while quickly making some great cocktails. I opted for an old fashioned with Makers and it was one of the better ones I've had. They stuck some nuts and water in front of me and started a tab. I was all set.
While it's not the New Orleans style place it's described as, the atmosphere is great. As the night goes on it gets crowded but you can still move around. Prices are on the higher side, but you're paying for quality. -

I dranks at to Earl's Juke Joint with some friends who live in the neighborhood, and this local recommendation certainly was a hit.
They described it as sort of a speakeasy, but it's a little too big. The outdoor is a butcher shop, which is part of the irony since every other store on this block is about vegan specialties.
The vibe was very intimate on account of the dark mood lighting. It's good for a date night.
They have a very good selection of Australian and foreign beers, some of which I had not heard of before. They also have a full bar and a unique cocktail list. Bartenders were fast and efficient, and they were proactive about giving us recommendations. -

Earl's is a solid spot to have a dark and sexy drink before you hit up one of the restaurants in the vicinity. Or you can just have a dark and sexy drink. It's up to you. I like this spot!
It doesn't day "Earl's" on any sign in the street. The outside looks like an old school butcher's shop front. Inside, and you're in a dive bar in New Orleans. -

Pretty cool spot, it's another speakeasy so not a new concept at all. The bartenders were fun and the cocktails were good. The music was super old and outdated. The bar turned into this strange nightclub with a bunch of 18year olds as the night progressed. They started taking their clothes off and the bartenders too, it was interesting

Cool bar - kind of hidden - good acoustics, conducive to conversation, great Manhattan (different, but good). Big ice cube.
